As a politician in Washington, King County and the Eighth Congressional District, Mark Greene often communicates with officials and politicians from around the state about important political matters, and he was glad to hear from Rep. Dave Reichert, one of the most ablest and astute members of Congress. Mark Greene received a specially addressed letter from Congressman Reichert as the congressman wrote about his commendable vote for the ongoing "cap and trade" bill legislation (H.R. 2454).
Congressman Reichert said that the bill as passed by the House was not perfect, but he wrote, in part, as follows: "This comprehensive bill includes new tax incentives, grants, loans, and other aid to speed the development and adoption of new clean energy technologies and to encourage cost-saving, energy efficiency improvements for families and businesses."
The congressman from the Eighth Congressional District also said that he is trying to ensure that the vast majority of the revenue from this bill goes back directly to the people. Mark has supported Congressman Reichert in this effort, as he has also supported Reichert's Pratt River/Alpine Lakes Wilderness Area bill, which would designate these areas, in whole, as federally protected.
Mark and Dave Reichert are two of the leading environmentalists in Washington state, along with environmental activist Michael McGinn and Seattle Mayor Greg Nickles, among others.
